ABOUT THE AUTHOR

El Alma is a counsellor who has worked professionally in the areas of relationships, grief, disabilities and spirituality for over 30 years. In the latter years, she chose to specialize in disabilities and has facilitated workshops and presented at national and international conferences for health professionals and families who care for family members with a disability.

She has been an advocate and carer for traumatized adults and children all her adult life and has travelled to remote country areas to counsel families through their grief associated with disabilities.

More recently she faced her own grief in losing her daughter to cancer. Her loss prompted her to semi-retire from counselling and to enjoy a new career in writing. She can often be found sitting on her veranda writing within the calm surrounds of her farm where she lives with her husband and family.
